No More Signing Up - We are Full!
The Great Salt Lake Yacht Club is sponsoring a Learn-to-sail clinic for youth ages 8-17.
Learn the basics of sailing and practice skills on Dinghies and Keelboats.
Who: The clinic will be geared towards those with little or no sailing experience.
Participants must know how to swim.
Note for boy scouts: skills learned in the clinic can be used to pass off many requirements for the small boat sailing merit badge (bring your blue card).
Where: Great Salt Lake State Park (Near Saltair). Meet at the pavilion.
When: Clinics will be run on Fridays. Tentative schedule:
Session 1 Dinghy sailing 1 June 6
Session 2 Dinghy sailing 2 June 20
Session 3 Dinghy sailing 3 June 27
Sessions will run in the evening (5:30 – 8:30)
Bring:
Sunscreen, water bottle, swimsuit, and towel. Plan on getting wet!
If possible, please provide your own life jacket (we will have a limited number of loaners available).
If you own a small sailboat (Laser, Sunfish, Sabot, etc.) you are encouraged to use it for the clinic. Please let me know if you have a dinghy and if you will be able to help out with the clinic.
Cost: Free to all.
Space will be limited. Please sign up by May 25th.
